Woot! Finally managed to lower my mockups to a decent amount of colors! Yeeeeeeeessssssss!
The woman in the picture is called Alba. The fygar-like creature is a Cavegon, and the teethy Pooka interpretation is an Actoma.

It was several years ago that I was struck with the idea for a Dig Dug-remake, with a new setting, new characters and a sci-fi theme to it. I had never even touched making graphics with a computer, so the idea lay dormant in my head for years. But...Just a week ago, the idea resurfaced while I was brainstorming for ways to fill up my very outdated portfolio at dragondeplatino.daportfolio.com/. With my newfound pixelling skill, I set to putting my ideas into pixels, with a story slowly growing as I added more and more to this.

Uprising Odyssey would be a platforming rogue-like in a similar vein to Spelunky, albeit with more of an emphasis on energy-management, stealth and of course...mining. The game would center around a young woman named Alba, who has qualified to be the best candidate for an energy-crystal expedition. Using a suit lovingly made by her crazy-but-loving father and now-deceased mother, she would head upwards as far as she can on a suicide mission to discover a new source of energy for her dying hometown. The game would center around managing your energy supply, which is directly tied to your drill, valence pump and life support systems. The main challenge of the game is finding a balance between fighting and avoiding enemies, as your valence pump uses up quite a bit of energy. Along the way, you can find upgrades for things as basic as drilling speed, or something as awesome as a radar which lets you pinpoint enemies behind walls. As with many rogue-likes, the game would feature permadeath. Once you die, you loose all of the energy you found, all of your upgrades and progress. You high score would be retained, though.

It is now as much as ever that I sincerely wish I could program. ;.;

- I realized this was a little hard to see, so I went ahead and resized it for good measure. Lookit' them pixels! :B

i honestly think this is a really cool idea for a game!
if you ever decide to make this real at some point if you learn to program, I'd change the design of the Actoma enemies since they look too similar to the original one it was based off of
This would be pretty fun to play, and it sounds challenging.

also, I know this is an old post but I felt like leaving a comment anyways
